COOL PARENTS
We want to thank everyone for a fantastic weekend and everyone seemed to get along and enjoy each other's company. That was a terrific 50th for us.
The picture is right where your Dad wanted it and the way he wanted it and looks great. Ken Jones really liked our castle and when Colleen told him it was the Salt Lake Temple he even liked it better.
Susan needs to know that Vashtia reads her frame of pictures with, "FIFTY YEARS TO GET HER" and I like her interpretation.
The announcements are working, we receive candy from someone everyday. Maybe I will put back on the weight I lost last winter.
Again "Thanks" to everyone

family reunion 2008
Thanks to Holly I am back on the blogger list and able to post. Here is the web site so you can check out the location for the family reunion on the weekend of July 19th, 2008. It is http://www.vallecitolakechamber.com/ From there can look under accomodations and a list of place to stay is listed. We are looking to book at the Five Branches Camper Park because it looks like it has something for everyone. Tent, RV (that would be mom and dads hot rig), and cabins with a variety of levels. Discuss among yourselves your own needs and book it accordingly, sooner is always better than later. Last time I checked you could hold a place for pretty cheap. So DO IT now. Our plan is to go to Mesa Verde on Friday the rest of the time is up for grabs. I suggest if you want to do the train coming up a few days earlier, or staying on a few days later so you don't have to deal with the weekend crowd, once again book it early, because it fills up.
Love ya all and it was great to see everyone

Trip to Disneyland
We and by we I mean Tina, Mandy, Mike B., Brevin, Jace, Ashlynn, and I spent last week at Disneyland. Besides the grandkids first trip to Disneyland, it was their first trip to the beach. Jace really enjoyed all the characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, and Woody. And the electric light parade was very cool for Jace. If you would like to see a video of Jace dancing with the parade, send me an email and I'll send it to you. Brevin learned to like roller coasters and and scary rides like Tower of Terror. Ashlynn liked any ride that mom went on with her, which was normally Pirates of the Caribbean. And we all learned that if you want to get on Finding Nemo, you get on early entrance tickets and show up a half hour before they open the gates. We only had to wait in line 10 minutes that way. Of course it took 10 minutes walking through the maze that they call the line to get to where you wait 10 minutes. By the time we got off the ride, the line was 2 hours long. And at the beach, we all learned that waves can knock you over, which can be very fun. We also learned that if you take off your shirt for even 1/2 hour, you end up very pink the next day. At least that is what happens when you don't spend the summer in your swimming suit.

Update on news down here. Dad, Keith, Tim, Aaron, Lehi, Rubon, Brett, Justin and myself went to a Diamond Backs game on the 13th and Aaron caught two free t-shirts that they were throwing out into the crowd. Diamond Backs won. We were up early the next morning and had the baptism services for Bethany and Macy. I have been very busy with the normal things is life. My wife and kids are completely submersed into the seventh book and will probably finish it this week. I took Justin to a midnight launch party at Deseret Book and he won some treats in a trivia game and I won a door prize. Then we stayed up until 2AM reading together. Keep in touch.

Mandy and Mike Visit
Mandy, Mike, Brevin, Jace, and Ashlynn were here last week to visit. After a family golf tournament, we spent Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday camping in the west slope of the Tetons. Had a great time. Got up early and went and washed the ballons in Driggs, but generally ate and played. Cooked marshmallows and hotdogs over the fire, played in Teton creek, and hiked up to a small waterfall.
After the kids left Wednesday, Tina's dad and I went fishing down in the valley on the Teton river. I probably caught 30 fish in about 1 hour. Most of them were whitefish, but the whitefish were taking dry flies on the surface, jumping out of the water, and just acting more like brook trout or rainbows (both of which I caught). They must like the warmer water. It was warm enough that I was wading wet up to my waist. Not something you do often in Idaho.
I'll add some pictures when I get them off of my camera, but I do have some pictures from Mandy's last visit that I'll add. Mandy and Ashlynn climbed Angel's Landing both of the two weekends before coming to Idaho. So you Caldwells that didn't do it at the family reunion a couple of weeks ago, but hurry up and do it before it starts to cool off :)

Hotel Info for Reunion
So I have spent some time looking at hotels and cabins in the Sedona area. I figured a cabin would be quaint but most are “rustic” and won’t accommodate all of us. We had the idea that it would be nice to all stay at the same place. So I went to hotels. Please remember that this is Sedona and it is still HOT in Phoenix in September so we are not out of the tourist season, and this is a weekend. Now for the good news: There is a Hampton Inn that has the 10 rooms available. For those of you familiar with Sedona it is fairly close to the “downtown.” When you come into Sedona off of I-17 (which we all will be doing from Phoenix), you go through Oak Creek Village and into Sedona. You come to a T in the road (89-A) and to the right is Oak Creek Canyon, but the Hampton Inn is 2 lights to the left. It is a very nice hotel. The cost is $149 a night, but I think I can negotiate a group rate. This is why I need to know TODAY if this works for you. The hotel is calling me back tomorrow and I need an idea of the number of rooms. $149 is for one or two beds in the rooms so if someone wanted to double up they could, and I would need to know that. In order to get a group rate I will need to guarantee a number of rooms. Now $149 a night anywhere close to Sedona was an excellent rate in itself, plus this is a really nice hotel, and close to down town and the jeep tours. Call me.

Reunion Info
Arrive any time you can, and plug into the events around the time you arrive, but here is a rough draft of the itinerary
Temple Session in Mesa on the 21st at 4:30. I can make this latter if needed The temple is crowded on Friday's but usually not until 5pm I will still recommend being at the temple by 4:00. I know this means some of you would have to take off Friday to be to this, but what a treat for mom and dad if we could all make it.
Afterwards we will go out to dinner together. I have not made a reservation yet, but will do so as it gets closer.
Then we head out for Sedona, where on Saturday morning at 8:00 I have reserved a jeep tour. They have several different tours. They have reserved the tour for 3 hours, but we can go for less. The have the red rock tour, mogolion rim tour, Indian ruin tour, etc. We can combine two different tours. The cost is $60 for 2 hours or $99 for 3 hours (per person). Let me know of your preference, tour wise and cost wise and we will try to be accommodating. If you want to get exotic you can do a jeep tour and helicopter ride for $199 that sounds fun. After our tour we will do lunch and have a family picture. The rest of the afternoon is free, to visit, shop, walk around, go up oak creek canyon and play in the water (this sounds fun), whatever we choose. Cathe will be emailing or blogging you with the information on our lodging accommodations.
Cathe's chuch is at 2:00 in Prescott, if you want to go there for church. My church in Mesa is at 11:30, or we can find one in Sedona. Sunday is just for relaxing and visiting.
Hope you all are making plans to be there
Feed back is fine, try to make it positive
Thanks

Family Reunion
And by the way, congratulations Brian. You don't need to apologize, I just didn't know (but was guessing correct) what the comment was for. If you were in our ward, you wouldn't have any vacation to go to the family reunion because you would be using it for funerals :) So you may want to convince the family to have the reunion is Santa Fe or something :)

Baptism of Macy and Bethany
They Rest of the Story
Mike I do want to apologize for not making contact with you yet. I have for the most part touch based with just about everybody all I lack is the top three of the family and maybe the bottom one. It has been a huge adjustment for everybody in our family. Here is the whole story on Tuesday night they called and ask for Kristi and Myself to meet with the Stake President. So for 24 hours everything was going through our heads on what it could be. But both of us knew what it was and we just didn't want to face it. We were told Wednesday night that they were going to split the ward Sunday and we are calling you as Bishop of the Star Heights Ward and you need councilors by then and don't tell anybody. So we went with it and needless to say there were many sleepless nights leading up to Sunday. Come Sunday, which was mothers day, the stake presidency walks in right after sacrament meeting and the buzz started right then. They released the bishop of the Star Heights Ward then announced the boundary changes, had all those people that were in the boundary changes stand up and called our old Bishop as they Bishop of the new ward. They then had the rest of us stand up and then they did the Bishop thing in the Star Heights Ward. People were afraid that I was going to pass out on the way up to the stand. It was a mind numbing experience something that we won't forget for a long time. It is still a mind numbing experience. Things have not slowed down hopefully this week it will slow down a bit but time will tell.
I am trying my best to touch base with everybody I am slowly doing that If you feel the need to talk call Kristi at the house and she can give you my work phone number.
Thanks to everybody and yes I can still say that I will box the ears your ears to all my sisters and still tell my brothers to go jump in a lake or off a cliff or whatever I feel like.
No really it is still me folks just things have gone really crazy.
Love you all
Brian

BISHOP BRIAN
To answer your question Brian was made Bishop on Sunday. They have not announced that publicly yet, in fact Brian went into hiding as soon as the family found out. Do not bother teasing him. He is not responding to his full mail box from me!! I guess he needs to hear JJ's words again.

Identity Theft Protection
and phone number of the company where Bethany's social security number is being used. So without further rambling here again is the email Mike sent us because it needs to be retold and we need to monitor our kids identifying information.
PaulAn Attorney's Advice :Read this and make a copy for your files in case you need to refer to it someday. Maybe we should all take some of his advice!
A corporate attorney sent the following out to the employees in his company:
- The next time you order checks have only your initials (instead of first name) and last name put on them.
- If someone takes your check book they will not know if you sign your checks with just your initials or your first name but your bank will know how you sign your checks.
When you are writing checks to pay on your credit card accounts, DO NOT put the complete account number on the "For" line. Instead, just put the last four numbers. The credit card company knows the rest of the number and anyone who might be handling your check as it passes through all the check processing channels won't have access to it.
- Put your work phone # on your checks instead of your home phone. If you have a PO Box use that instead of your home address. Never have your SS# printed on your checks (DUH!) you can add it if it is necessary. But if you have it printed, anyone can get it.
- Place the contents of your wallet on a photocopy machine, do both sides of each license, credit card, etc. You will know what you had in your wallet and all of the account numbers and phone numbers to call and cancel.
- Keep the photocopy in a safe place. I also carry a photocopy of my passport when I travel either here or abroad.
- We've all heard horror stories about fraud that's committed on us in stealing a name, address, Social Security number, credit cards, etc.
Unfortunately I, an attorney, have firsthand knowledge because my wallet was stolen last month. Within a week, the thieve(s) ordered an expensive monthly cell phone package, applied for a VISA credit card, had a credit line approved to buy a Gateway computer, received a PIN number from DMV to change my driving record information online, and more.
But here's some critical information to limit the damage in case this happens to you or someone you know:
We have been told we should cancel our credit cards immediately. But the key is having the toll free numbers and your card numbers handy so you know whom to call. Keep those where you can find them easily.
- File a police report immediately in the jurisdiction where it was stolen, this proves to credit providers you were diligent, and is a first step toward an investigation (if there ever is one).
But here's what is perhaps most important: (I never even thought to do this).
Call the three national credit reporting organizations immediately to place a fraud alert on your name and Social Security number. I had never heard of doing that until advised by a bank that called to tell me an application for credit was made over the Internet in my name.
The alert means any company that checks your credit knows your information was stolen and they have to contact you by phone to authorize new credit.
By the time I was advised to do this, almost two weeks after the theft, all the damage had been done.
There are records of all the credit checks initiated by the thieves' purchases, none of which I knew about before placing the alert. Since then, no additional damage has been done, and the thieves threw my wallet away this weekend. (someone turned it in). It seems to have stopped them in their tracks.
The numbers are:
Equifax: 1-800 -525-6285 Experian (formerly TRW): 1-888-397-3742 Trans Union: 1-800-680-7289
Social Security Administration (fraud line): 1-800-269-0271
We pass along jokes on the Internet; we pass along just about everything. Pass this information along. It could really help someone you care about

with an average house price of $358,000. So I don't know what passes for affordable these days but they did say that with an average house price of less than $200,000, you can pretty much bet on no decent jobs. Welcome to Idaho Falls. The violent crime index is 49, the cost of living is 141 (ouch, double ouch), and the Secondary Test Score index was 104.
So sorry to Orem, you lost out to Kaysville; and Rancho Mirage or whaterever, you lost out to Sandia Heights. And Phoenix, you ain't got nothing, so you can't win.

Two months to the day!!
Here we are preparing for a hot summer and our garden is blossoming and not yet ready to pick. Hopefully it will ripen before it gets cooked by the sun. I work during the day and spend most evenings at the church for meetings. My wife is busy with whatever the kids have going on (ie., sports, chorus, plays, trips to the zoo, etc.) Valerie feels abandoned since Holly moved to Snowflake and I left Tempe for Queen Creek. But Aaron was right Queen Creek is a better place to raise a family because their are still tractors driving down the roads and fields of grain between housing developments.
My link of the week is to a web sight that tells you how to build a potato gun. They are a lot of fun to use at reunions and to make loud noises that quiet the neighbors barking dogs.
http://www.spudzooka.net/
Enjoy it, if you have questions call me as they are a nice weekend project.
I am here
Well I finally made to this blog it took about 4 phone calls to figure out that we had this BLOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. And once again the last to know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Oh well life is to short to be upset over things. I will never forget the night that I removed a body from a terrible accident during the Christmas holidays As I pulled out the body I looked at her face and saw the most peaceful look she I had ever seen I will never forget that moment as long as I live. I realized then, that the most important thing in this world was FAMILY. As I sit here writing this there are very raw emotions going on I thought I had them all beat but I guess not!!! There are many more experiences that are kept in my head that nobody should have to ever see or hear I am very grateful to be off the streets and sitting behind a desk. Jen thanks for the Happy B-day on this blog I am glad to have seen it. Just remember family there is a freeway that runs through Albuquerque and it goes both ways. For all the football fans BYU plays in Albuquerque this year the date is September 29 at 6:30PM.
That is all for now emotions are too high to write anymore. Remember life is to short so enjoy the most precious things that you have kids, grand kids, and spouse.
See ya sometime.

I didn't take any pictures, but Tina's parents did. So I'll post some, as soon as I get a copy. So if anyone wants to spend some time fishing with just a chance of catching a big, strong fish in beautiful surroundings, we plan on going again in October and of course, next March. Think about the 20th of the month.

1.http://www.vallecitolakechamber.com/ close to Durango and Verde Mesa. could include a trip to the Verde Mesa Indian ruins, river runs, a ride on the train if we decide to (it costs more than Disney land so I don't know if it is worth it. Mountain biking, hiking, and outdoor water activities
2.http://www.mormonlakelodge.com/ trip on jeeps, a hike in the lava tubs near Flagstaff, water activities at Mormon lake and other outdoor activities
3.The third one doesn't have a web page, but it is the La Sal Mountain Guest Ranch. We went there several years ago, with jeeps nearby in Moab or Monticello, water rafting trips, mountain biking etc. It has cabins to rent with breakfast everyday on tables outside the ranch house, by the play ground it was fun
4. http://www.gtlc.com/reserv.aspx In particular Colier Bay area which offers, cabins, RV or tent cabins. A Location near the Teetons, which could include a trip into Yellowstone, and all the outdoor adventures in that area. (mIke would be the expert here)
If you think about it this will still be during mom and dads 50 year, but I think we still need to have a party on their anniversary. I am open for suggestions but here is an idea. Lets get together the weekend of September 20, and 21. I know kids are in school so make it siblings only and their spouse. I know this means some of you would have to fly in, but 50 years is worth it isn't it. We could do a number of fun things together, (once again I am open for suggestions) something like Staying at a cheap resort in Phoenix, going to dinner, sitting around visiting, and eating orange slices, maybe an event, like the balloon festival in Albuquerque if its on that week end, or the BYU football game, preferable close to a temple for a temple session together. Maybe a helicopter ride( dad would like that). Lets just spend the weekend together. And most importantly a family picture (parents, siblings) that will be put in an announcement of their 50th.wedding anniversary. Not an invitation to a party but an announcement to all their friends and family. In the announcement it have a family tree. Listing each child, with spouse, children, grandchildren, showing our parents heritage. The invitation will be done before out little party and the envelopes addressed all we will need to do is stuff the picture in and mail them out. Give us some feed back
