Thanksgiving Birthday Bash

Mom is 75, Keith is 50 and Bud is 80. We have much to be thankful for. With Susan and family coming down after the wedding to have Thanksgiving, we moved up the Birthday bash. Dinner will be late afternoon or Early evening. Please call Mom and Dad next week to finalize plans. They are on their way to celebrate with Spencer on his Eagle. We are so proud of him - we will celebrate his accomplishments as well at the party. Any other accomplishments, new babies, weddings, etc. make a list and we will celebrate!!!! If you can not make it, we will miss you but understand the late notice - Keith says its ok - just send money.

We have plenty of floor space and a few beds if you are lucky. If you are staying for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday or just a few days and would like to go to a Temple Session - please let me know and I will call and get an appointment or we can go to one of the sessions that does not require an appointment.

I am so blessed to be part of this family!!!

I Don't Like Owls

Today Aiden brought home a wonderful project from school. I'm going to write it so you guys can laugh at it as much as i did.

Owls
Owls are not very cool.
Owls have very good twistable heads.
Owls have wings that help them blend in.
Owls are endangered.
I'm more of a bat person.
And owls are ugly.

Hilarious right? He is the Weirdest kid I know. But he did get a one hundred percent for "good details and voice"

PAIGE ;)!!!

Here is our new house. We moved in three weeks ago and we finally had family over to come see it. Eventually the grass will be green and look like everything else in Washington.
We're now open for business. Come and visit!

Last Chance for Slackers

Tina picked up the wedding invitations from Maggie's mom yesterday (at Red Lobster in Poky and I wasn't even invited. The only thing better than Red Lobster is going to Alaska to catch them yourself. Thank you dad.). So you slackers who haven't updated your address yet, now is the time to get them in. I've emailed you; I've tried to call; but I have found out, your phone numbers change as much as your addresses. And as an added bonus I promise to send them to Jenne, which means you won't have to, unless you decide to move between now and whenever Jenne decides to send hers out.

Justin Turned 13

For Justin's thirteenth birthday he decided to take after his Dad and got his arm put into a cast and sling. He was playing football and his is a lineman. He went down in a large group tackle and someone stepped on his left hand with their cleats. His team made the playoffs and this weekend is their first playoff game. He is a bit bummed about not being able to play. I started out with a broken arm or was it that snow skiing incident with my knee, I am getting old and cannot remember. I told him that I was proud of him for getting some injury that he can tell his kids about for years to come. His response was, "Dad can you please get me some more ice."

Weekend in Elk River

OK, it was only one night, the rest of the weekend was spent driving to and from Moscow to take some stuff up for Ty's apartment. But if you get the chance, GO. It was extremely pretty and very relaxing. Everyone either walked or rode the four wheelers around. Not much traffic. We stayed above the General Store and ate huge huckleberry hot cakes for breakfast. They weren't pancackes because they didn't fit in no pan.

If you want a good place to vacation and want to get away from it this is it. They have 2 National Forest campgrounds, one with hook-ups and an RV Park. The General Store has 9 rooms above it and there is a small hotel across the street. There is a pond at the edge of town (and the sewer lagoon you see in the picture). There is Elk River Resevoir about a mile from town and the huge Dworshak resevoir about 20 miles through the mountains.

Wedding Luncheon

Trying to figure out how many people to schedule for a luncheon after Ty's wedding. Any of you all planning on coming?

Also, if enough of you are coming, we can probably get a group rate at a hotel in Logan, but we will need to know and see what we can get.

The Move

Yes we moved again. We do try to keep you guys guessing of where we are going next. Because I'm so cautious on the internet I'm not giving you my new address or my phone number. (its just my cell or Nates cell) But I will send an email shortly with the info. We moved the last week of July and it was a miserable move. We did have the hottest July on record for the valley and we moved in in the heat of it all. After a little over a week of some trailer loads in the morning and some trailer loads after dark we finally are moved and mostly unpacked.
To participate in the poll of where we should live next please see my blog

Ty's Engaged

For those of you who haven't heard, and I think the only one I've told is mom, Ty got engaged last weekend. I actually sent mom a text message because they were traveling through the wilds of Idaho and Montana where cell phone coverage is worse than most 3rd world countries. So Susan, when mom gets there read her text messages to her and dad.

They are planning on getting married Nov. 24 in Logan, with a reception in Dayton that same day. Then honeymooning the rest of the week before vacation is over on Monday.

1st deadline

The thirty-first of July was the original date they told us they'd be done. This is how far along they are. It looks like it will be three more weeks, but we're almost there.

English Teaching Job available

Miss Cunningham died suddenly yesterday, July 30th. Snowflake High School will not be the same. I am sure we all share fond memories of her class. It is amazing that one woman could spend 42 years in one school. Carra is very disappointed that she will not have her this year.

MOM

Please participate in the poll on the side bar
I talked to mom today and she told me she isn't calling anyone so I am blogging so I don't have to call everyone.
Last week mom went in for a Echo cardiogram Basically a heart ultrasound, she had an abnormal heart rhythm. She finally got her results today and was diagnosed with. Aortic valve stenosis. Basically a condition in which the aortic valve is narrowing Here is a link to the Mayo Clinic page if you would like to look more into depth about the condition.
If you have any questions mom is going on vacation to Utah. Call her even though she isn't calling anyone or call me My husband may be able to answer questions.
By the way Mom said when she gets home that we have to have come consensus of what she should do that is why there is a poll. She also jokingly said that is how all her medical decisions will be made majority rules of her children's votes. If the jury is split my vote will be worth two LOL

Happy Birthday Mike

Being the oldest child is not easy. Thanks for leading the way and being a great example.

Just remember, being the oldest at 51 is not as fun as being the oldest at 15.

Carra has her license

Watch out world - she is legally on the road!

San Tan Valley

With the post office changing the zip codes of the Queen Creek area Pinal County decided to make a formal break from Queen Creek. Queen Creek has always treated the Pinal county area near it with a cold shoulder and so the zip code change was a good time to make a name change. The county petitioned the postal service to no longer call this the unincorporated Pinal County area near Queen Creek. We are officially San Tan Valley, Arizona, 85140. Since their is such a low crime rate for the San Tan Valley (no records to tell us otherwise) I wonder if my insurance rates will go down for a while.... Nice thought though.

My Little Devil

As many of you know Aiden and his teacher have had a few problems this year. We struggled through the year, and limped to the end. So today his teacher made a memory book for the kids to sign that had a picture of the class. Aiden's came home with devil horns and a pointed beard drawn on his teacher. We all know how honest kids can be. Thank goodness he wasn't in the room as I laughed when I saw it. I waited a few hours until I knew I could contain myself, and then talked to him about how that was mean. His response, "Well mom she is kind of a menace." That cut the lecture short because I had to leave the room to laugh.

Erica Graduated from BYU this weekend! Lexi drove down to Provo from Rexburg, and we camped out in the Dayton's house; thank you very much Dayton's.

Wow, little Erica is already a college grad. We toured campus and visited the museums. The campus sure has changed a lot since I attended. There are so many new and beautiful buildings, they should have built them 25 years ago.

Lexi also turned the big 2-0 on Sunday! To celebrate, on Saturday, we went to Salt Lake City and Park City. In Park City it was...snowing. After buying her some presents we went to Chili's, had dinner, and met up with some of her friends.

We have laughed a lot this weekend and tomorrow we have to go back to our sober lives. We will probably take the nasty rainy weather with us back to Seattle. Hopefully, the Dayton's will forgive us for bringing it to Provo.

Yesterday on the news you may have noticed a story about a small explosion on a school campus in Queen Creek.  JO Coombs Middleschool is where Ashlee goes to school.  The incident took place near the basketball courts and she usually is in that area at lunch time, which is when I heard the news report.  So I called home and she answered the phone.  She was home because she was sick.  What a blessing a sick stomach can be.  She does know several of the kids that were involved/hurt.  The Link to the news story:

On the brighter side Brenna is ten weeks into the nine month flu.  We expect her to be over the illness October 25th.  I will give more udates to you as we "find out".

Go Nellie!!

Just because I know Jennefer won't want to brag. . . well that's what sister's are for. Nellie is in the semi-final round for Sterling Scholar in Utah. Here is the newspaper information. Nellie is listed in the Southern region under arts. As we all know she is very talented when it comes to art, but she is also one of the smartest kids I know. Congratulations Nellie! (I've always told you your my soul mate does that make me smart too? Even if you think I am really crazy when I say that.)

Snow

Yes, I have red hair in this pic(its the Halloween spray on stuff) You will also notice I have shorts on. What was I thinking. Today we didn't have school because of all the snow. Molllie REALLY enjoyed the snow. She ate most of it. Krypto HATES snow, just like my dad. He wouldnt even go near the doggie door. We went sleding on inner tubes, and we went down at about 100 mph until they all popped. The pic in the right corner is what our yard looked like in the morning, but you cant really tell how deep it is. So our snow day was pretty eventful, talk to you later.

Yes, I am posting while my husband and family are watching the super bowl. I catch a piece of it here and there and it is enough for me. How about you Keith? I credit Keith for teaching me everything I know about football, I have found that most girls don't know the difference between offense and defense. I guess thats not totally true. BUT I even know what a first and 10 is, the sign for holding, and when the chains need to be moved. Of course who wouldn't want their big brother to think they were smart.. instead of Stupid!!

If you come to our house in the next 6 weeks I promise we will take you to some kind of performance. Emily made first chair cello in her Metropolitian Youth Symphony Division. She is in the 4th division and this is her first year. She will audition this week for Junior High District Honor Orchestra. And she made Molly in the school play Annie... shes an orphan.
Stephanie on the other hand just had regional audtions for vocal and viola. We will find out next week how that went.
Olivia wrote a short story for school, they took the two top stories to a state competition and she is one of them, pretty good for a kid who is diagnosed with a writing disability.

Its also Birthday Mania at our house. Jordan today, Cade (1) tomorrow, and Emily on Tuesday. and thats just the beginning.
Love ya
Val

All Good News

The tests on the Thyroid came back negative. Tina had to have a mammogram redone this last week and it came back negative. The stitches have been removed and all that remains is a lump above the scar. The doctor says that it is lymph fluid and that the lymph system has to reroute itself and then the lump will disappear.

Thanks for all your prayers and concern.

Ty was in the paper

Our local paper prints pictures of people on the summits of mountains. When Ty climbed the Grand Teton (see previous post from last Sept.), I submitted a picture of all of them on the summit to the paper. They printed it for the Jan. 1st edition. I think that is a special honor for them to save the picture to the big 1/1 slot!

Tina's Surgery Went Well

Tina's surgery lasted twice as long as expected (4hrs vs. 2 hrs), but the doctor says it went well. The growth is about as big as your palm with the fingers folded down. She spent 1 day in the hospital, but was able to come home about 5 pm on January 1st.

She looks like someone tried to slit her throat and has a 4" x 4" piece of gauze on the bottom of her neck, over the incision. The pathologist is examining it now and we should know results sometime next week.

Thank you all for your prayers.
