Braces OFF

Its been a year and a half since Stephanie has had her braces on. She has been ready to get them off since day one. The day finally came this past Thursday and now all she does is smile.

Double Whammy

Since June is home with the CHICKEN POX we thought we would post the pictures of her double whammy this week. Amazingly she hasn't complained yet about either one. Which is probably why her whole class was very exposed. Yes braces and chicken pox within 2 days. Anyone jealous? Luckily she has the shots (in my family we are batting .75 with the shots and still getting the chicken pox) and as you can tell the chicken pox aren't bad.

Martin's Cove, a cove in the rock. They camped starting at the middle right where it turns green (water available) and around behind this ridge to get out of the wind. 56 people died here and they were 'buried' (actually dumped) on the upper left side of the ridge.

And the pony express arrived with the mail on the horse "Biscuit." Of course, we had to eat "Biscuit" in the morning with gravy.

I know there is a better picture of me somewhere in the collection, but I can't seem to find it at the moment, imagine that. So if you see on great picture of me, let me know.

Clutzy

Yes, the cats outta the bag, im such a clutz. I trip, run into something, or stub my toes at least 3-4 times a week. I tripped in the band room while putting my trumpet away about a week ago and it just got a scab on monday. So today we were at home depot in the garden center looking at hammocks when Clutzy (me) slipped and skidded on the same knee that already had a scab on it. I got up, tried to act like nothing happened, but the blood was already comin' down. I was sent to to the car to get the first aid kit. Cole got a kick out of watching me put the peroxide on it.

Marie's Birthday

Okay I have a hard time posting without a picture so this is the most recent ones I could find of you.  Found lots of Tim and Vashtia but only a couple of Marie.  I'm not going to guess how old you are.  I don't think I could BUT I do remember when you were my age.  27.  I hope you got a semi day of rest on your birthday

I know that Marie makes very pretty chocolates at Granny's house and Thankfully she is there when we do this or our chocolates wouldn't look as good as they taste with all our little helpers.

This picture is just for you to remeber you crazy daughter.  Good thing she has that book for rent payment for the weekend.  JUST KIDDING

Man I love the process of making chocolate thought about doing it at my house this winter.  BUT look at those kids. WOW too messy

Marynda's Big Day

Tuesday was Marynda's first real Kindergarten Day - No parents allowed. She also lost her first tooth!!!! She is a big girl now.

Martin's Cove

Back from 4 days at Martin's Cove with a 130 kids and 70 adults. It was a great time, both spiritually and physically. We left Monday at 6:30 after spending an hour loading the buses and made it for 90 minutes before having to stop for a bathroom stop. Then in another 90 minutes we had to stop at Togowotee pass for construction and a bunch of boys (and a few ladies) ran for the trees. One girl had an allergic reaction to mint breath spray.

I was navigating the second bus but the only instructions I got was follow the first bus. But we got so far behind the first bus that we were guessing where to go. So we turned to early for the park in Dubois, Wy for lunch and then missed the turn-off to Lander because I thought we were going to Riverton. After having been there, I think Riverton would be easier and only 10 minutes or so longer. Then we followed the first bus, but they didn't know the turn-off for the campground. So we turned off into the visitor's center, and then they told us take the next right, but it was the second right. And the people that lived on the first right weren't too happy. They came out and video taped us driving on the "private" road.

At lunch in Dubois, Wy., there was a group of bikers coming/going to Sturgis and they come up and asked if we where Mennonites or FLDS. When they found out we were going to Martin's Cove to push hand carts, they were very relieved. They thought that was kind of cool.

The second day we got the kids up early like 6am. And pushed the hand-carts 10 miles. We stopped for lunch at the meadow where the Willie company was rescued. You could see the ruts for the wagon/handcart trail. Being from Idaho, you could imagine what it looked like with 2 feet of snow and winds blowing down the valley. And guess who was there to meet us, Elder and Sister Seymour. They say "hello" to all you youngsters that know them. They were getting released yesterday and we were the last group they were speaking to. We had one young women get a log stuck between the cart wheels and the bank on the first river crossing and one leader fall and land on a sharp rock on the third river crossing. His hand required stitches that the doctor gave him before we moved on.

The third day we went to Martin's Cove and pushed the handcarts from the visitor's center to the handcart parking and walked through Martin's Cove. I think many of the kids where very touched. They were amazingly reverent.

I'll be putting pictures up on my web site, when we finally get them edited. We asked the kids not to bring cameras so it wouldn't be a tourist trip for them. Then we supplied 4 photographers from the stake. They took about 3,000 pictures. They are going to put together a video/slide show for all the kids and I'm going to host the bulk pictures on my web site for people that want a copy of a picture. But it will take a couple of weeks for them to go through the pictures and a couple of weeks for me to upload everything to my web site.

2008/09 School Year Here we Come

Collins sleeping habits

Oh yeah you might get sick of this but here is another picture of Collin on my stairs okay the last time he was on his stomach. This time I really think he fell asleep coming down the stairs. He usually comes down on his butt slowly down and this time he was on is back asleep on the stairs. I really did teach him to come on his belly like a good mom but he watched Kirsten and Zoe to many times. I was on the phone and computer "Oprah calls it multi-tasking" (what movie Melinda) and couldn't find him I looked all over down stairs. You know the usual places Toy Room Bathroom Bathtub (empty bathtub) Poor son needs more sleep.
